Passive therapy modalities are used to get patients out of that first stage of pain that they come in with and have troubles doing daily activities with. The goal when selecting a modality to do on a specific patient is to reduce pain and inflammation, accelerate the healing process after an injury, strengthen the muscles, and increase range of motion. Some modalities that we have here at Schrock Chiropractic & Acupuncture are electrical stimulation, roller table, spinal decompression and cold laser therapy.
E-Stim is used to utilize the significant physiological effects of low frequency electrical stimulation of nerves without the associated painful and somewhat unpleasant side effects sometimes associated with low frequency stimulation. E-Stim helps increase blood flow and relaxes the muscles that helps with tension and tightness.
A roller table can help patients through the use of pressure and heat, to relax by helping the muscles to stretch, relieving pressure on the spinal column, thereby relieving stress. Some areas the roller table helps on is restoring the normal spinal curves, improving balance and strength, increasing spinal range of motion, and improving circulation of spinal fluids.
Spinal decompression stretches the spine in a safe, controlled and very specific way to open the disc spaces. This decreases the pressure and allows an increase in blood flow, reducing inflammation and can be used with patients that have herniated or bulging discs in the neck and lower neck.
Cold Laser Therapy
is a treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissue and helps accelerate the healing process. It can be used on patients who suffer from a variety of acute and chronic conditions in order to help eliminate pain, swelling, reduce spasms and increase functionality.
